After nearly a month to the day of being released in the US, UK users can today begin to use Facebook’s new location service ‘Places’. The new service, which was launched in the US on the 19th August, allows users to check into locations in much the same way as you could with other services such as Foursquare. Users also have the ability to tag their friends at locations and this information is displayed on your news feed for all your friends to see. (more…)

Hitwise Suggest Facebook Reaching Saturation Point in UK
Data published by Hitwise has shown that Facebook accounts for a staggering 1 in 6 online pages viewed in the UK. As a percentage this is 16.73% which makes Facebook the most visited site in terms of total page views in the UK. Of all the social networking sites Facebook also accounts for over half of all visits with all the other social sites left to pick up the 46.52% scraps. (more…)
Facebook To Allow Users To Share Current Location

The UK’s first digital election campaign?
As the build up for the next general election gathers pace, we constantly hear references to this being the UK’s first “digital election”. Back in 2005 Facebook was barely a year old, YouTube only 2 months old and Twitter did not exist at all!

Twitter Is Where The Youth Are At As Facebook Users Get Older
An interesting study in the US has found that more young people are turning to Twitter as Facebook users are getting older. The research conducted by the Paw Internet & American Life Project found that the average age of Facebook users has jumped seven years from 26 to 33 compared with the average age of Twitter users which was 31.
