Google Encouraging More Localised Searches With New Search Box?

Not sure if this has been around for a while or if its another addition to the long list of tweaks Google have been making lately but if you type in a localised term – in my case “Ford dealers” - Google display a search box at the top allowing you to further refine your search by town or postcode.

Curiously if you type in something an area such as Leeds you are given a different set of results then you would get if you type in “Ford dealers Leeds”. Not too sure how Google decides what to display however it would seem getting more localised content on your site that relies greatly on local search has never been more important…
