Data published by Hitwise has shown that Facebook accounts for a staggering 1 in 6 online pages viewed in the UK. As a percentage this is 16.73% which makes Facebook the most visited site in terms of total page views in the UK. Of all the social networking sites Facebook also accounts for over half of all visits with all the other social sites left to pick up the 46.52% scraps.
However it would appear that it is not all rosey for social networking giant as it has been found that growth in the UK has been slowing significantly over the last six months. Although Facebook users are increasing in numbers month on month, in the UK this increase is becoming less with every chance of it reaching saturation over coming months.
Robin Goad, research director at Experian Hitwise UK, said, “Facebook has a very high average session time (almost half an hour) but this has stabilised over the last six months after increasing rapidly during the site’s ascendancy. Clearly Facebook isn’t losing traffic in the UK, but do these stats do point to a levelling off? The rapid period of the site’s growth is probably over in the UK, but does that mean Facebook has reached saturation point?”

I would say that Facebook will be reaching saturation point, the main reason can be is that nearly every young person in the UK has a Facebook account.
