Google Recommending Brands For Searches

Google appear to be testing a new feature on their search results pages which displays recommended brands for certain search queries. Malcolm Coles was the first to report on this and used ‘digital cameras’ as an example.

When typing in ‘digital cameras’ Google displays a line of suggested brands related to that query at the top of the search results page just below the search box. This addition will give large brands a lot of exposure however currently there are no further details on how Google decides which brands it displays.
