Mobile Advertising Grows By 32 Precent in UK

Mobile advertising in the UK has grew by 32% according to research from the Internet Advertising Bureau and Price Waterhouse Cooper.

According to the research the 32% increase amounted to a growth of £37.6 million in 2009 beating expectations.

Mobile search was the fastest growing format which grew by 41% and a 20.2 million increase taking a 54% market share whilst display advertising grew by 24% to £17.4 million and a market share of 46%

The report has also identified the industry sectors who have been using mobile advertising the most with the top 5 being Entertainment & Media (61.5%); Telecoms (14.7%); Finance (8.1%); Consumer Goods (3.2%); and Government, social and political (2.7%).

Other key insights from the research found that mobile internet usage has grown by 21% in 2009 and that 23% of time accessing the web is now via a mobile device. On top of this session times on mobile internet have grown to over 5 minutes and the average time spent surfing the net on a mobile device is around 32 minutes per day.

These findings will surely make anyone still sitting on the fence in regards to mobile adverting sit up and take note!
