It seems that the Facebook “Become a Fan” frenzy will soon be coming to an end. According to the site Clickz, Facebook has started contacting ad agencies informing them that the “Become a Fan” will be changed to a “Like” button in the next few weeks.
The functionality is going to stay the same with the user receiving newsfeed info and updates from that advertiser.
The main reason behind this decision is that Facebook thinks that using the “Like” button will increase engagement between consumers and brands.
This brings Facebook’s button closer to Twitter’s “Follow”. “Like” is such a less emotional response than becoming a fan and therefore it is likely that Facebook users will find it much easier to connect with pages.
