Yahoo has become the latest company to strike a deal with Twitter. In a deal which was announced yesterday Twitter feeds will now begin to appear in Yahoo search results as well as other Yahoo! products and properties, including the Yahoo! Homepage, Yahoo! Mail, and Yahoo! Sports.
This is not Yahoo’s first partnership with a social networking site as they struck a deal with Facebook back in December 09. With the Twitter deal finalised this means that it is possible for anyone with a Yahoo ID to update their social networking accounts simultaneously thereby “simplifying people’s lives” as Yahoo! consumer products group vice president Bryan Lamkin puts it.
Bryan Lamkin also said that the deal means that “you will find the most personally relevant experiences through Yahoo!”.
Twitter have also hailed the new partnership as ‘big opportunity’ and a statement from Twitter co-founder Biz Stone says that ‘the information in one single tweet can travel light-years farther with this Yahoo! integration”.
