The UK advertising sector is expected to grow in the third quarter of 2010 following a decline of 12.7% in 2009.
In a year that saw spending on the internet reach new heights traditional advertising has not done so well with a reported drop of 25.5% between January and September 2009.
The research carried out by The Advertising Association and Warc has predicted that overall advertising revenues will show a decline of 3.8% and 0.8% in the first and second quarters and then experience and uplift of 2.8% in the third quarter.
This research highlights the effect the recession had on advertising in the UK however it also interestingly stresses how important the web has been during this troublesome time. The fact that growth is predicted should bring back the confidence in advertisers and increase company’s multi-channel marketing efforts which can only be a good thing for increasing growth.
