Bing Rises Further, Yahoo Drops – Business As Usual For Google

In keeping up with our interest in how Bing is performing data collected form Nielsen has shown that Bing has now gained 10% of the market share. The report showed that the total amount of searches on Bing rose to 1.1 billion for August which is an impressive leap of 22.1% over July. This means that Microsoft now have a 10.7% share of the search engine market.

Google have of course remained in top spot and have a 64.6% share with a whopping 7 billion searched while Yahoo dropped 4.2% to 1.7 billion searches which gives it a 16% market share.

It is interesting to see that Bing is continuing to climb. Last month the market increase was 8.9% so it is certainly looking promising so far for Microsoft. These stats are still yet to be overly indicative of the UK market and again that fact that Google take up such as massive market share still doesn’t provide any substance to panic or switch the focus. However it’s quite nice to keep an eye on something that could possibly (emphasis on possibly) shake the foundations of search that we have all of a sudden become too accustomed to.
