In among the necessity to get up to the minute information Google has made a few improvements to their Blog Search. The first feature is that Google have added RSS and Atom feeds which can be seen under “Subscribe” situated on the left. This allows you to subscribe to any topic or story in any feed reader.
Another addition can be seen on the right hand side of the Blog Search where you also have Hot Queries. This area highlights what people are currently looking for much like the trending topics in section on Twist.
However where it begins to get really interesting and demonstrates Google’s steps in providing more up-to-the-mintue information is the addition of the Latest Posts feature which Google claims “lets you find out about stories even before people start searching for them”. The blog posts featured are form some of the most popular blogs and Google is not letting on how they choose what blogs to feature (surprise surprise).
Nonetheless this is still undoubtedly a good step from Google in the battle to provide users with the most recent, up to the minute, information possible.
