Google announced to the world yesterday about their beta launch of AdSense for mobile applications including the Google Android and iPhone and states that the move is in an effort to ‘contribute to the growth of these mobile applications’.It goes on to say that advertisers are always “looking for ways to reach potential customers when they are engaged with mobile content, and application developers are looking for ways to show the best ads to their users” and AdSense on mobile phones is the natural thing to do. After a successful trial with a small number of people Google have now opened it up to wider audience. If you are an application developer Google allows you to apply for the beta program on their site which you can find here.
Mobile applications are on the up and this is an obvious progression. However it did make me smile how Google talk about having AdSense on mobile applications as if they are doing commerce a big favor by allowing them to target a wider audience… nothing to do with the millions they are going to make off it then…:p
