PPC Impressions Increase For Travel Sector

According to a report from Efficient Frontier the travel marketers’ PPC campaigns appear to be seeing higher returns during the economic recession.

Statistics have shown that the impression values for the UK travel sector have increased by 32% from Jan-March 2009 compared to the same date range in 2008. (more…)

Internet Advertising Spend Leaves Press and TV in its Dust

The Advertising Association has today released their annual Advertising Statistics Yearbook. The yearbook announced that UK advertising expenditure fell by 4% in 2008 to £18.6 Billion. This compares to a 4.3% positive annual growth in 2007. It is not all bad news as the yearbook goes on to state that internet advertising expenditure growth was 19.1% from 2007 – 2008. Proving that in the current economic climate many companies are more comfortable investing their money into online.

Michael Jackson Shows Twitter is King and Google Lagging in Search Trends

Back on Sunday TechCrunch posted an article on which platform provided the best trending topics and concluded that Google appear to be behind Bing when it comes to search trends. With the news of the passing of Michael Jackson I thought this would be a good opportunity to explore whether this holds true for a major breaking story such as that of Michael Jackson’s untimely death. So within moments of finding out about it late last night I looked into the search trends tools for Google, Bing, and Twitter.

Google Launches AdSense for Mobile Applications

Google announced to the world yesterday about their beta launch of AdSense for mobile applications  including the Google Android and iPhone and states that the move is in an effort to ‘contribute to the growth of these mobile applications’. (more…)

Interesting news to arise from Nielsen Online is that social networking is continuing to increase. Statistics show that the number of minute’s users spent on social networking sites increased by 82% since May 2008.

Google’s Need For Speed

Google are to launch a website that emphasises the importance of speed on the Web. The move comes as part of Google’s ongoing effort to speed up the Web and ‘make browsing the web as fast as turning the pages of a magazine’ as they put it. The site will contain tutorials and advice on ways in which webmasters can improve the loading times of their sites.

Habitat UK Give Us Crash Course In How Not To Use Twitter

We like the hashtags feature on Twitter. They are a great way to see what people are discussing the world over at this very moment however if today’s news is anything to go by you must use them wisely!

Habitat UK have run into a bit of bother for using various hashtags for some of the major trending topics with the Iran protests being one of them in an effort to promote their products.

It goes to show how quickly you can be scrutinised for using social media outlets wrongly. Ironically with the amount of people talking about this on twitter perhaps they will end up with their own hashtag #TwitterBlunder (or soemthing like that…) :-/
