Google Set to Release Cloud Based Google Drive?

Cloud computing looks set to receive a real boost in the near future as Google further develops their GDrive service for public use. The GDrive has already been in internal use by Google employees, and those in the know have noticed developments that suggest that the feature could become main stream in the near future.

Cloud computing is a service whereby users are able to access software and data via the internet in order to be able to use it on their own machines. The data is stored on a network of servers, and then the user is able to access this information at any time, on any machine, and from anywhere in the world.

The GDrive will enable users to access a document at any given time providing they have internet access. At present, many individuals will tend e-mail a document to a personal e-mail account, and then access it whenever they may require. This Google service will provide a huge network of servers whereby documents can be stored and accessed on demand, and depending on the amount of space provided per user, could transform the way we all work.

The personal computer would become just a means of accessing the ‘cloud’, eradicating the need for a hard drive.

There has been no official announce regarding a release yet, but this development can only be a matter of time away.
